large file support

My first computer was a ZX-Spectrum with 48 kB and a cassette recorder! However,
the first computer I ever worked (at school) with was an Intel SDK-85, with
512 bytes of RAM, and we programmed it in hex.
Today, I have a PPro, with 128 MB, and with Linux that's more than adequate for me.
