IDLE Tooltips malfunction on AIX 4.3

I've noticed that my new build of 2.0b1 on IBM AIX 4.3 everything works
great except the tooltip window pops up empty of text in the IDLE tool.
I'm using 8.3.2 Tk libraries but I've relinked with the old 8.0 and it
still happens. Anyone else seen this behaviour? It seems to occur only
on AIX. The CallTipWindow.py is very simple code so I don't see where
an error could hide (the test routine there exhibits the problem). It
must be a bug in the Tk side. :-(
