There's an indexing-related Catalog package hiding inside Zope.
Catalog is also included in the experimental ZODB distribution I've
been working on (downloadable from
ftp://starship.python.net/pub/crew/amk/zodb) but I haven't gotten
around to trying out the indexing features yet.
