The effect is also apparent in IE5.

And, if you watch the progress indicator, one will notice two variations:
(1) the ad arrives quickly, then nothing else for a bit till suddently all
the rest arrives, (2) everything arrives (99 or 100%) but only the ad is
displayed for the first second or two.  (I am not referring specifically to
SF here, but to the web in general.)

I'm good at ignoring ads, but this technique interferes significantly with
the users productivity.  And if it is intentional and unnecessary then it is
particularly annoying.
