idle 1.6 bug on Windows?

   I tried to paste
x="@"
   where @ is [cyrillic small letter tse] and IDLE exited with no message.

   Trying to use a Russian locale and typing the "q" key results in an "e"
with accent appearing rather than the above mentioned character.
