1. Because if you haven't done any programming at all, you're not
likely to have the tools or experience you'd need to build Python
from the source code distribution, and the pre-built binary
available from ActiveState [1] is 2.0, not 2.1.
2. Because 2.1 is still in beta-test, whereas 2.0 is released.
