As a reminder, here's a list of some of the big new features in 2.1
(news since 2.0 was released in October 2000):
- nested scopes and __future__ directives
- rich comparisons and new coercion model
- warnings framework
- new build process (Unix)

- unittest and doctest modules for automated testing
- ports to several new platforms, including Cygwin and RISCOS
