Yes, I think I have to accept defeat and agree here.  I guess it's not 
really all that error prone: the example we started with was rather 
contrived.  As you say, it's not a feature to get anxious about.

At least assignment is not an expression, as in C (which is how I think I 
got my semantics confused the first time).
