Python under Windows: free cl.exe?

I doubt that Visual C++ 6.0 (or any Microsoft C compiler for that matter) is
free...
The closest I found to what you might be looking for is at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/visualc/prodinfo/previous/downgrade.asp
where current licensees can get previous versions of the MS compiler series.
BTW- there is much more to VC 6.0 than just cl.exe and nmake.exe.
