Actually, the vast majority of all platforms are embedded systems.
But you can't really draw any connection between the number of
systems and the number of programmers -- for either embedded systems
or Windows platforms. For embedded systems, the programmer/product
ratio is usually much smaller, while MS seems to be on a quest to
chew up both more processor cycles and more programmer cycles! ;-)
Probably still can't draw any consistent conclusions: Linux probably
has a very high programmer/product ration, because so many linux
programmers are doing it for fun. ( Does anybody program in VC++
for fun? :-)
