default arguments newbie question

Ah, ignore that guy (honestly, what kind of tripped-out whacko starts making
objects that test equal to None?), he was obviously just trying to upset
Erik Max with silly little exceptions that no serious programmer would ever
consider introducing into a real system.

There should be a sanity check before allowing people to post to c.l.py;
first question:

    Is None an instance, a type, a static instance, or a value?

Answer wrong and the PSU will pay you a little visit with a nice white
jacket... strangely, they forgot about the voice dictation... so easy to
type... they must wonder how I keep typing... maybe they forgot about me
after the record was marked "deleted".

You must have missed the post recently where someone showed a class that
compared equal to None.
