book recommendation?

I'm new to Python and I would appreciate suggestions
for what would be a good reference book to buy?
I'm an old hand in general.  I know C and Perl very
well and Java a little.  I've been a programmer and
sysadmin for eight years.  I'm looking for a book
that would be a good language reference, but also
has introductions to Python's special features without
being too "slow".
