The article covers Microsoft's VJ++ version, only; and besides any other
issues, VJ++ looks sure to be orphaned in the next generation of Visual
Studio (VS7, aka VS.NET, has C# in place of Java).  There are 'bridges'
to let you interoperate (e.g.) Corba<->COM, and you can do Corba with
any Java, but it's rather a curve-ball, involving commercial (perhaps
costly) 3rd party components, etc.
