The tutorial (which I got with the Python download) is helpful, if you
already know several languages. If you are a true newbie, you need
more. I found "Learning Python" published by O'Riley to be very good.
It won't make you an expert, but you will be able to read and
understand programs they wrote, after working through the book. Beyond
that, I find there is no substitute for making my own mistakes.
