reding in a png/jpg etc and displaying it

Hi,
  Iw as looking through PIL and it seems pretty neat. The source indicates
that there is a function to read in an image and output it to a Tk window.
Could anybody help me out in displaying the read in image into a Gtk window.
Actuall, am I right in saying 'display it to a Gtk window' or should it be
canvas/pixmap/image....

I'm a little confused on how to display images via the Gtk interface.
