pair programming, vim?

Another possibility besides those already mentioned would be rather current
screen releases which allow more than one terminal to display the
same screen "window". In theory, all attached terminals can type to
such a shared window while all attached terminals also see the changes
there. In practise, you should use some extra coordination to hand over
the typing in case you want to exchange rôles.
