Same to me. I can not think any programming without Emacs. On Unix and
Windows both.
If you are using python only, there can be better option. 
But for some like me to use C++, python, SQL, Java ..., Emacs is the best
option for all languages, IMO.

Personally, I used vi for 6 yrs. I was most-advanced-user of vi in my
company.
After changing to Emacs for 2 months, I could not go back.
