IIRC, Python has been the subject of extensive usability tests
as part of DARPA's CP4E effort. The real point is that people
don't have any problem learning this aspect of Python; as far
as I can tell, your objection is tied wholly into your preconceptions.
Drop the preconceptions, and the problem will disappear.

Python is elegant and comprehensible.
