Part of the annoyance which the "Kennewick Man" remains cause stems from 
their implication that the folks who came from Asia over the Bering 
Strait land bridge may have found humans here ahead of them.

Another part stems from the fact that if Kennewick Man wasn't here 
before that group, then he was of them and his remains should be 
properly respected as such.

This has been a long struggle, with at one point a court order requiring 
the remains to be reburied without further study.

[Kennewick, Washinton, USA, that is.  I'm sure a Google search on 
Kennewick will turn up something about it.]
