Yes having it documented is perhaps good, but I don't see a serious need.
How do you document what is the sine function?  Will you assume that people
know exactly what is a sine functions, looking only for irregularity?  Or
will you tell them sin(a) is the ratio between y and sqrt(x*x+y*y) for a
point (x, y) which is in an angle a from the origin, and explain that
interestingly all such points have the same ratio?  Manuals are not, and
should not be, substitute for reasonably good mathematical background.
