GNU Info version of Python 2.1 documentation?

I asked the same some days ago to python-docs at python and F. Drake told me that
the build process is broken. The distribution includes a Makefile to build the
info files, but html2texi fails. Have you tried it?

The problem is that html2texi is a perl program :-((  Who can help with this?
I tried to fix it by myself but I gave up.

I agree with you that the info files are very useful, the fastest way to
browse the docs. I hope someone can fix this.
