Looks scary.  Don't know what's going on either (sorry!), but I
think it might be helpful for the others to know which operating
system you're trying to compile Python on, which compiler you're
using, which release of the compiler, and so on.

I'm not a C guru, but maybe Python is known not to compile under
your configuration or something.
