raising SyntaxError while parsing file?

Create your own exception by creating an empty exception descended from
Exception:

---
>>> class ParseError(Exception):
...   pass
...
>>> raise ParseError, 'blah'
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<stdin>", line 1, in ?
__main__.ParseError: blah
>>>
