Well, it exists on Linux and SCO Unix (which implies that it's fairly
common since SCO is next to useless [right below useless, actually]). 
However, SCO puts it in /bin, so it unless SCO is unusual in this respect
(wouldn't be a surprise - I'd actually expect it to be found in /etc or
something given their wonderful filesystem layout) it isn't much better
than specifying the path for Python directly.
