PyQt Installation Problem...

Hello,

Just installed SIP and PyQt and have come across a slight twist.  I'm on 
  Red Hat 7.2 and after compiling, PyQt installs in the directory where 
it was extracted and not in the site-packages subdirectory of my python 
installation.  Looks like the files that were generated in the cong 
stage got located the right python version and directory, it just didn't 
go there (/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages).  Any suggestions?
