Limit process run time - SIGALARM equiv on win32

If I want to limit the run time of a process to say, one minute, I can
use SIGALARM on Unix, and let the process commit suicide when the
alarm handler gets called.
How would I do that on Windows? Is there a solution besides using
multithreading and hardcore os._exit()?
How would I do that with Jython?
