Report writer for Python?

Would'nt it be a fair solution to use TeX / LaTeX and produce the input via 
Python?

So it is possible to:
a) use the auto-layout provided by LaTeX
b) use all the output-tools available (TeX2PS, TeX2PDF, TeX2RTF, 
TeX2XML...)

and have the Power of Python for doing the DB-Stuff.

What do you think?
