For an accounting program there is something to be said for running 
multiple sessions of it on the server, and providing a desktop for each 
user by means of VNC.  Then the proram can run on a computer in a 
well-supervised area, and each user can have a PC with Linux or Windows, or 
a Mac or X-terminal or whatever they find congenial.

Assuming rather a lot of them use WIndows at present and have Windows 
programs they continue to need for a while, this is still a good solution 
for the accouting program.
