I tried reading comp.lang.c for a while, but simply got bogged down in
the volume.  I subscribe and much prefer comp.lang.c.moderated; same
thing goes for comp.lang.c++.moderated.  I tried the same thing with
comp.lang.java.* and had the same problem; wish there was a moderated
version.
