directly executing a python script in Unix

Hi Marc,

Could it be the return of the son of the utterly useless CR character at 
the end of lines? If your file is in DOS format, the shell tries to execute 
"/usr/bin/python^M", and obviously doesn't find it... The result is what 
you saw: either "Command not found" or "No such file or directory", or 
something similar...
