Windows versions of Python---pros and cons?

No, none.

Yes, they're the same Python, ActiveState has just packaged a few more
goodies, and have a nicer installer. You can, however, manually get all
the extras that ActiveState packages from several places at the net.
ActiveState has just the advantage that they've already done that job
for you.
