Wrong. paramstyle = 'format' in MySQLdb, not 'qmark'. Look into the
DB-API specs (PEP 0249) for details about the various paramstyles that
are possible.

Simply use %s instead of ?. And read the fine MySQLdb docs that are
included :-)
