modifications of PythonWin?

I don't know of any.  Modifications and customizations tend to be for 
"in house" or limited distribution projects.  I know of a few, but they 
have no public information.

Pythonwin itself is exactly what you want, though!  Many many features 
have been contributed by users over the years.
