python cryptography toolkit

hello the list,

I've found some documentation about the pct [1] but the tarball I've
downloaded [2] fail to compile since it's written using the Python 1.4
api. I'm very interested in this package and wish to know if it is
still maintened (in this case I must have missing something in my
google search ;) or if there is a newer equivalent package ?
