opening 'file open' dialog from console

Fetch the root singleton (or whatever it is) out of Tk land:

        root = Tk()

Withdraw it:

        root.withdraw()

Warning: Sometimes this withdraws the wrong thing. >sigh<

Alternately, pass it into 'askopenfilename', if possible.
