POD vs. reST for standalone writing?

For balance:

The biggest problem with ReST at the moment, I think, is that the only
output formats (that I care about) receiving any attention are HTML
and TeX, which means that other formats like PDF end up getting
generated from TeX via other tools.  The TeX generation is pretty
decent, but not really professional since it'ss really misusing TeX as
page layup format (c.f. PDF) instead of letting TeX do the formatting.
