I agree.

Still, what's wrong with this?

  a.the_sort_that_i_learned_last_week()

Anyway, this decision is all up to the teacher of course.  So then we see
that Python gives a teacher flexibility depending on the focus of study. 
And that sounds like another big plus to me.
