PYTHON EDITOR!!

Based on that list I found EmEditor v3 (Windows) which seems good.

It's fast, has Python syntax colouring from the start and most importantly:
is fairly easy to get to show Unicode characters correctly (as opposed to
TextPad).

It's not free, but fairly cheap shareware.

I'm used to TextPad, but this editor seems to be able to most the same
things.
