The python advantage is not only a time issue.
But one of sheer ability as well. Brain is a limited resource.

Have to admit i would not be able to write robust C++-based software
very much in the same way i could not learn chinese..

Python won't make you shy. You can produce reasonably complex stuff after
a couple of days or weeks depending on your programming background.
