(Joliet) volume name and serial number

Hello Python world!

I want to migrate a CD-Rom catalog from Access to Python/MySQL on Linux,
as a way to get familiar with both Python and the platform.

The very first step is to create a script that reads the file tree 
from CD, which seems easy.

However, I need both serial number and volume name, and Google 
only comes up with Windows-only solutions.

Any ideas, or hints for something I have overlooked?
