Oh god!  Not comp.object.  _Anything_ but comp.object. :-(

(I'd be happy to post comments about the widespread and highly
effective uses to which we put Python in my organization, including
running on embedded Linux-based PC104 modules with 100MHz 486
processors, and how it's not too slow there, but I _really_
don't want to waste my time reading comp.object.)

By the way, is anyone saying that Python is "too slow to be
useful", or merely "slower than some other languages"?  If 
they're only saying the latter, don't waste time arguing as it's
clearly true.
