Scintilla / Scite tabs formatting mystery.

I used to fiddle with tabsize but now I realize the
right approach is to ALWAYS set tabsize to 8 and
just adjust indent size (I use 2), _no matter what
your editor_.  I'm still trying to figure out how
to get jed python mode to work with a setting like
that.

Setting tabsize to anything other than 8 has many 
disadvantages.
