PIL: loading _imaging fails allthough it s there

Hi,  please give me some hint for that problem:

PIL Image() says it can not find the _imaging module, but
_imaging.pyc is there. i used help() to display all modules and it was
listed.
then i tried to get help for _imaging i got this error message:
"problem in _imaging - ImportError: DLL load failed: The specified module
could not be found."

I am using Python23 on Win2k and py22b1-pil-1.1.2-20011022.exe
