Yes, the language really DOES matter -- although it's not the ONLY
thing that matters, of course, not by a long shot.  Analogy...:

"If your national entry to the Olympics 4x100m Relay Race consists
of four couch potatoes, it really doesn't matter what shoes you use, 
it'll come in last".  True: obviously, if you want your nation to
stand any chance for a medal in such competition, the team _must_
consist of well-trained athletes.  But it would be the height of
madness to jump from this to wondering whether shoes really matter:
having your team run in hobnailed boots, or furry slippers, would
STILL be more or less a guarantee of defeat, if the other teams are
being more sensible about shoe choice.

Again, this is like saying that shoes only run as fast as the
people who wear them.  True, but it DOESN'T follow, by any means,
that choosing the most appropriate kind of shoes isn't important.
