There should be an option to compile it against FreeTDS

Don't give up so fast :) I'm pretty sure this can be made to work.
If this ultimately fails, there are other alternatives like an ODBC-ODBC
bridge, SQLRelay, or something like
But the last project seems to be *quite* inactive.
