Don't top-post.  Quote, trim for relevance,
then post succesive stuff.

He must have meant something like

    from applic import *

which (I think) will work, though it's not considered
the cleanest python.

Cleanest would be

    import applic       # happens to define myvar in module
...
    if some_var == applic.myvar:        # for instance
...

and so on.
