Is Python overhyped (just like Java)?

Most of the Python programmers on this list are/were experienced
programmers on other languages also, C and C++ included among them,
and they quote these numbers repeatedly.

Have you programmed extensively in Python?

If you haven't, they how can you disqualify those numbers?
