NameError: name '_gtk' is not defined

I'm trying to get pyscintilla to work on winXP home.

I have a pyscintilla directory 
and I installed pygtk 0.6.5
I can import GDK but when I  try to import gtk...

NameError: name '_gtk' is not defined

I suspect I need a 2.2-compatible _gtk.pyd... ?
