101 Ways of distributing python programs?

I know that there are ways to produce windows and linux executables out of arbitrary Python programs. For Mac I am not sure at all.

I want to distribute free and shareware programs written in Python. Now I need a way to distribute them as a single installation file for each platform(Windows, Linux, MacOs)  Any suggestions?
Creating a setup.py is obviously not all that I am after... Under a normal windows without Python it is worthless (aiming at the py2exe binary), and for MaxOs X I lack information. Is it feasible to make a User download and install the macpython and corresponding extra modules beforehand?
