The subject of book recommendations is exhaustively covered in the
comp.lang.python archives, including reviews of most of the popular
titles.  So you may want to search google groups.  The advanced group
search options are very helpful.

For example, you can read all posts in the last year to c.l.python
that mention book in their subject header by selecting 'book' for the
subject entry and 'comp.lang.python' for the Newsgroup entry and
limiting the date fields.
